“Ming Romantic: Collected and Bound folds together reproductions of historical documents with contemporary texts to examine how Chinese typography can evolve through the use of digital tools and manipulation of form.”
In 2017, I had the opportunity to work as an editor on Synoptic Office’s printed matter celebrating the release of Ming Romantic. Interviewing YuJune Park, Caspar Lam, and their team, we spoke about this immense project and their relationships with the Chinese language. Together, we developed this reader that became both an education tool and a promotional piece for this typeface.
